NCCF Welcomes Mr. Atul Bagai as Chairman

The Network for Certification and Conservation of Forests (NCCF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Atul Bagai as its new Chairman. Mr. Bagai is a seasoned expert in environmental governance, sustainability, and policy formulation, with over four decades of distinguished service in both international and national capacities.

Mr. Bagai served for 24 years at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), including a successful tenure as Country Head of UNEP India, where he established a robust India office with a USD 75 million portfolio. His leadership was instrumental in policy interventions on climate action, waste management, and circular economy strategies, aligning India with global environmental standards. Before UNEP, he served for 17 years in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), holding key roles in the Ministries of Environment, Finance, and External Affairs.

Recognized globally for his contributions, Mr. Bagai was recently honored with the National Order of Merit (Gold) by the King of Bhutan for his impact on environmental governance. His work has influenced international negotiations on climate change, chemicals, waste management, and sustainable development goals (SDGs).

Under his leadership, NCCF aims to enhance its certification frameworks, foster innovation in sustainability practices, and drive impactful environmental solutions. His expertise in policy, ESG compliance, and industry collaboration will further strengthen NCCF’s mission to promote responsible forest management and conservation efforts.
