Network for Certification and Conservation of Forests organizes Webinar on Forest Certification

Network for Certification and Conservation of Forests (NCCF) organised a webinar on Forest Certification on Tuesday, 19th May 2020. Dr Sanjay Kumar, Director General of Forests & Special Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India delivered the inaugural address as the Chief Guest. He had very aptly highlighted the advantages of Forest certification and called for building  a structured program using forest certification that has strong synergy with our Working Plan system based Sustainable Forest Management and reduces the market risks and uncertainties in sustainable utilisation of wood/ wood products/ other forest products and make the system acceptable universally.

 The webinar  was attended by 225 delegates from the central ministries, state governments, international organisations, industry and industry associations, academic and research institutions,  civil society organisations, social groups,  experts, professionals, certification bodies  and other stakeholders.

Sessions were conducted by distinguished panelists on various aspects of certification. The topics covered were, “Introduction to Forest Certification and role of NCCF”; “NCCF Forest Management Certification Standard and Modalities for taking up NCCF FM Certification”; “Governance and Management Perspectives of Certification’; “Industry Perspective of Forest Certification” and “Introduction to NCCF ToF Certification Scheme”.
