NCCF participates in 7th International Herbal Fair 2019
Shri AK Srivastava, Director General, NCCF participated in the 7th International Herbal Fair 2019 organized by Madhya Pradesh State Minor Forest Produce (Trade & Development) Cooperative Federation Ltd. (MP MFP Federation) from 18-22 December at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
The MP MFP Federation in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM) organized an International Conference on ‘Responsible Management of Non-Timber Forest Produce (NTFP) Resources: Access and Benefit-sharing’ during 20-21 December 2019 in Bhopal, MP as a side event of this International Herbal Fair.
Mr. Srivastava addressed the delegates in the inaugural session as a Guest of Honour and also made a presentation on ‘NTFP-Sustainable Forest Management Certification and Access Benefit Sharing Compliance Certification’ in the technical session. The presentation included draft criteria and indicators for Access Benefit Sharing Compliance also.
This International Conference had focussed on Access and Benefit-sharing Mechanism as emphasized in Nagoya Protocol 2010 to ensure responsible management of NTFP resources. The sub-themes of the conference included: 1) Challenges in global sourcing of NTFPs and Certification; 2) Institutional mechanisms for responsible NTFP resource management, 3) Access and Benefit-sharing challenges and opportunities.
